So Spidy is back again. He is fast, awesome, and knows how to kick ass. Unfortunately the movie doesn't. Spider man 3 is all about action, nothing more, nothing less. The action and CGI in Spider man 3 was absolutely stunning. Probably the best in all Spider-man series. Although the last CGI effect of the humongous Sandman looked kind of fake.
Venom was actually replicated very well into the real life screen. He looked exactly liked the comic book series and it made me really excited to see him in live action.
But the problem with this 3rd one is the lack of depth in the story. It had so much material in 140 minutes of run time that it was hard to grasp every information. The worst part is that none of the information I was dying to know about was left unanswered. Venom goo mysteriously falls from the sky and that was never explained where it came from, what it is, and what it does. There was a vague explanation by a physics teacher about what it was but nothing more. Same with the Sandman creation. It was never explained how the Sandman became what he is, never explained what the hell were the scientists doing with the sand mound in the first place.
And we cannot forget about Harry. The poor guy that lost his father in the 1st movie. He fights Spider-man not once but 2 times. And within the 2 year time span (since Spidey 2), Harry learns some tricks that his dad left behind. However, he fights Spider-man not knowing all this time that Spidy really didn't kill his father. After all this fighting and heart break and rage filled time period for Harry, he learns from his very own butler that his father killed himself. (Wasn't there an autopsy done after his father's death? I mean the autopsy would've clearly shown that his own blade killed him.) And the best part is, the butler waits till Spider-man 3 to tell him. Doesn't make sense at all.
So we have Venom, he's just a goo in the first few minutes of the movie. The movie didn't explain what the goo was, where it came from, what it's capable of. It takes over Peter Parkers psychological behavior and all the sudden it transfers over to a newspaper reporter that Peter rivals with. The best part is, Spider-man flies around all over New York, and SOMEHOW ends up in the same church as the reporter and the reporter becomes infected by Venom instead. (after peter rips it off of him).
So then as expected, Sandman and Venom teams up together to kill Spider-man. And this is where I started to predict the last half of the movie (I should have left). Spider-man asks for Harry's help, the two fight Sandman and Venom together, Harry dies just as I thought he would (and the best part is just like his father).
It's late and i'm tired but to keep things simple: The movie is all about eye candy, all about special effects, and has EXCELLENT action sequence. Nothing more, nothing less. Spider-man got killed by a real bad 3rd sequel to an excellent franchise.
Excellent site that greatly influences The Mindgames Initiative campaign.
