]]>It is a good website that describes how content is key, and how design should not dominate the content. It's a very hard tasks for designers like me that have influence and experience in all fields of design (not just the web). However I think that enforcing web 2.0 main frame into "web design" is not a good idea.
Don't get me wrong. I am not stating that web 2.0 is not the way to go. Although I don't agree with the label "web 2.0", I think that it is a good framework to stand by when delivering content on the web. What bothers me however is that this website promotes only one type of visual direction. That means that all the websites out there are going to look EXACTLY like each other. That is a no no in my bold opinion.
This current site is heavily influenced by web 2.0 "technology". Notice that I said technology and not design. In terms of design, there really isn't much direct influence in web 2.0 styles. I don't have some shiny star next to my logo or my layout, there is no "aqua" effect going on, and there definitely is no cute little icons floating around my site.
I been working on a new blog site for a good few months now, which will be implemented with my next version of the site (more on that soon). And I was very careful about not putting some cute icon that indicated RSS feeds or comment link. I just think that there are many ways than one to create a website that is effective and rich with content. It doesn't help viewers to be open minded about navigation creativity, and content layout formats. If every website was centered with 3 columns, logo on top, navigation horizontally on top, there will be no room for creative flash websites with creative navigations.
If you're a designer, keep web 2.0 "design" to a minimum. You're not being very creative as a designer if you follow the standard web 2.0 "looks" and visual direction. That's my take on it.
Web 2.0 technology is great. I am working hard to implement it on my future versions, but make no mistakes, my designs will not follow that trend. (Well not fully at least).

okay since i'm a bit honored that someone e-mailed me right when i made the change (with questions), i will answer it right away.
eternus somnium was created using photoshop cs3, illustrator cs3, cinema 4d, and bunch of photography (a lot of them being stock photo's that i gave appropriate thanks to them). this is up on my deviant page which i will not give the link to yet. they got credit for it on that page accordingly.
eternus somnium has about 510 layers in photoshop, and is about 591MB in file size. it's a poster piece. the light streaks were done using illustrator and the twirl filter in photoshop. hopefully that's enough of a hint for the person that asked me about it.
on that note, i am not planning to release remix versions of trance minimum: kasha, stridence, afterburner, or eternus somnium any time soon. i have gotten a lot of feed back telling me that my style has changed completely from my previous works. yes, you are right, and more details and reasons on that in the future.

]]>The interesting part of Ghosts is that it is completely digital. Now I don't mean the sounds of Nine Inch Nails, but even distribution wise, Reznor has made it clear that he does not need any type of record contract or record distribution companies for his success and fame from now on. Nine Inch Nails: Ghosts i-iv is not only digital but you also have the option of choosing to pay the amount of price you desire. It is also free for anyone that wants to take Ghosts on a test hearing. For the free version, you get the first volume of Ghosts I. This is alone very worth your time to download because some of the best tracks are on the 1st volume. For 5 dollars (a mcdonalds meal), you get the whole 36 tracks of the new instrumental tracks. And the price range goes on and on. The more you pay, the more special stuff (to a very beautiful packaged CD) you get. For 300 dollars you get a limited edition vinyl collection.
Will we see radio play? Probably not. Will we see any commercials on it? I doubt it, but it certainly doesn't make the record any less of an material than Reznor's previous works. It is undoubtedly something I have been waiting for, and I have more faith in Reznor than I did before knowing that he can create a beautiful album without lyrics. The best part of Ghosts was the fact that it wasn't announced at all and came as a surprise release. I almost had a seizure. So, stop reading this blog, and go get it. It's worth the experience, and the least you lose is your time for downloading it if you don't like it.
Again, it's free to take it on a test hearing. Or I am sure there's a bit torrent floating around somewhere for the whole thing.
