Pan's Labyrinth
Good movie. It moved me.
Sorry for the lack of updates. Quite obviously I haven't really had much to say. More in 2008.

Absolutely one of the best action movies I have seen in a very long time. I give it a 9 out of 10. There was some flaws here and there and some parts where I wished would've followed the tradition a bit more. But really, in terms of the story, CGI effects, action, dialog, everything was amazing.
So much action was packed into this movie, the DVD is one thing I am excited to buy. There was so much computer stuff, military technology action, and so much robots. There was good humor here and there and it definitely had a lot of believable CGI effects.
It beats Spider-Man 3 out of the water by 10 folds. It was very well put together, emotional at some parts, very edge of the seat mind bending action movie. There was lots of great potential for a sequel as well. The transformation of Barricade, Skyscream in action was just so amazing. It was very smooth and very real. Again I give it a 9 out of 10.
So Spidy is back again. He is fast, awesome, and knows how to kick ass. Unfortunately the movie doesn't. Spider man 3 is all about action, nothing more, nothing less. The action and CGI in Spider man 3 was absolutely stunning. Probably the best in all Spider-man series. Although the last CGI effect of the humongous Sandman looked kind of fake.
Venom was actually replicated very well into the real life screen. He looked exactly liked the comic book series and it made me really excited to see him in live action.
But the problem with this 3rd one is the lack of depth in the story. It had so much material in 140 minutes of run time that it was hard to grasp every information. The worst part is that none of the information I was dying to know about was left unanswered. Venom goo mysteriously falls from the sky and that was never explained where it came from, what it is, and what it does. There was a vague explanation by a physics teacher about what it was but nothing more. Same with the Sandman creation. It was never explained how the Sandman became what he is, never explained what the hell were the scientists doing with the sand mound in the first place.
And we cannot forget about Harry. The poor guy that lost his father in the 1st movie. He fights Spider-man not once but 2 times. And within the 2 year time span (since Spidey 2), Harry learns some tricks that his dad left behind. However, he fights Spider-man not knowing all this time that Spidy really didn't kill his father. After all this fighting and heart break and rage filled time period for Harry, he learns from his very own butler that his father killed himself. (Wasn't there an autopsy done after his father's death? I mean the autopsy would've clearly shown that his own blade killed him.) And the best part is, the butler waits till Spider-man 3 to tell him. Doesn't make sense at all.
So we have Venom, he's just a goo in the first few minutes of the movie. The movie didn't explain what the goo was, where it came from, what it's capable of. It takes over Peter Parkers psychological behavior and all the sudden it transfers over to a newspaper reporter that Peter rivals with. The best part is, Spider-man flies around all over New York, and SOMEHOW ends up in the same church as the reporter and the reporter becomes infected by Venom instead. (after peter rips it off of him).
So then as expected, Sandman and Venom teams up together to kill Spider-man. And this is where I started to predict the last half of the movie (I should have left). Spider-man asks for Harry's help, the two fight Sandman and Venom together, Harry dies just as I thought he would (and the best part is just like his father).
It's late and i'm tired but to keep things simple: The movie is all about eye candy, all about special effects, and has EXCELLENT action sequence. Nothing more, nothing less. Spider-man got killed by a real bad 3rd sequel to an excellent franchise.
*WARNING SPOILERS*
Silence of the Lambs was one of those movies where it brought attention to many people AFTER audiences watched it and talked about it with friends. It was indeed a eye catcher but it wasn't a #1 blockbuster, stand in line movie. Unfortunately, Hannibal Rising won't be the same thing. The movie itself, acting, and storyline isn't horrible but there are little quirks and stuff that could've been better which didn't offer in Hannibal Rising.
I personally loved Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal. I thought Hannibal was actually pretty amazing with the story build up and explanation of Hannibal's character. It wasn't that feeling with Red Dragon because I felt like Red Dragon had the same ol' stuff as Silence of the Lambs. Hannibal Lecter aiding the FBI and etc.. etc.. The biggest peak and quirk of the movie was at the end where the Prison Guard says "Hannibal, there's someone here to see you. It's a female detective." The best part.
So Hannibal Rising. It told story of Hannibal as a child, how he became who he is, and what happened him with him. However I felt like it wasn't much of a trauma. I mean it's pretty tragic seeing your parents getting killed, and your sister getting killed and eaten. But there was a lack of emotion and anger out of Hannibal himself. I wanted to see scenes where Hannibal is PISSED OFF!! It was more like "nooo sister, please don't kill my sister" and then he walks off into a snowy forest and collapses. I wanted to see him finding some inner anger, burying his face in the snow and screaming at the top of his lungs.
But that isn't the worst part. The whole movie is based on revenge and I wish it wasn't just about that. I wanted to see some revelation from Hannibal where he realizes "Hey... I like eating humans"... and "hey, this killing people thing is starting to be addicting." Because in Hannibal (the movie after Silence) he tells Clarice, "I want to get out of retirement and get out into public life" meaning he has this thirst for killing and eating people. I wanted to watch Hannibal grow up into the psychopath we know of him. But there is none of that. He just wanders around killing people that killed his family and that's it. I liked the part where it portrayed Hannibal of how he grew fond and knew so much about the human body. It's always been a build up of understanding with Hannibal series and you really know in Hannibal that he knows a good load about how the human body works. He can kill a pick pocket with one stab to the artery near his inner thigh. That's knowledge right there.
And I go back to the quirks thing. I wished there was a point in the movie where it had some GOOD tie in's with the future. There were some but very subtle. You had to be a Hannibal fan to really notice it. (For instance, the music Hannibal plays in his medical school dorm room is the same as the Ridley Scott's Hannibal. The intro sequence of his movie plays the same music.) I wanted to see Anthony Hopkins pop out somewhere. That would've been awesome. But we all know that Anthony has no interest in watching this movie (why???)
Over all, it's not a waste of money, but it's not a Silence or Ridley Scott's Hannibal.

Many people are writing me about EXE 4 and 5 so here are my answers:
1) What is EXE 4 and 5? New web layouts?
No. Execution 4 and 5 are completely different method of presentation compared to execution 1, 2, and 3. They are going to be what I call the "multi-medium project" which is a combination of film, print campaign, flash site (to promote the project), and web presentation. In greater detail, execution 4 will be a photographs from an installation piece I did back in 2003, film, written story, and a flash site (to promote the project). I am thinking about a book to follow with the making of the film and back stage look into it but I am not sure yet. This project is respectively titled "perplex". Many people have been waiting for this since the announcement in 2003, and I am sorry to keep you waiting. Execution 5 will be a film, print campaign, and a web presenation all bundled together. The film is currently titled "Love Drawn Dagger" and is in the production stages.
2) Will these films be available in HD?
The actual film was not shot in HD so the answer is no.
3) Are these going to be on DVD or shown on the web?
The web.
4) Will you have print materials to promote these films?
It is considered but not the most important aspect at the moment.
5) Is the perplex project still what it was back in 2003? We see the trailer for it in the portfolio page. Will it follow the similar style and idea?
It has evolved into something else. It's in the works so no worries.
6) Who is all involved in Exe 4 and 5?
It will all be revealed when the project is complete. Execution 4 logo design is done by Katherine Kwan. (http://www.kkwandesign.com/)
7) What software are you using for Exe 4 and 5?
Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, Aftereffects 7, Final Cut Pro HD 5, DVD Studio Pro 4, Ableton Live, Apple Logic Studio, Cinema 4D, Flash, yeah... and some others.
8) When is it going to be released?
Execution 5 is currently in plan for 2007 release. Yes... Exe 5 may get released before Exe 4. Don't ask.

A little teaser...
I changed the title from "Destroy all love kind" to "Love drawn dagger". I didn't like the title to be the same as my wallpaper. Speaking of wallpapers, I got 3 more on the way.
One of them is called "tech angel" and it's probably one of the most explicit wallpapers I have ever done.
