Mixtape: For far away places

Date August 17, 2010 | Published by Kjell-Roger |

It’s been a long time since I posted here, but I felt this was the right type of post to do a comeback with: A mixtape.

This mixtape is a blend between post-rock and electronica. If you fall asleep easily, don’t put this on right away. If you have a hard time falling asleep, put this on right now. In my mind this mixtape is good for three things: Just sitting down reading something nice, sending you off to dreamland or having it going in the background when you’re working that creative juice.

The name aspires from all of those three. Because if you’re reading, dreaming or being creative you often are in a place (in your head anyhow) that is far away. It was inspired by a concert experience of a lifetime and a certain laidback person with a positive outlook on life. It was released on polarbearsinthestreet.com. Oh, and the cover photography is an earlier series I did this spring.

Now I don’t wanna be a nagging “parent” here, but; If you like these artists please support them. Go to their show, buy their cd, get their merch or all at once. Because they do deserve it. Times infinity.

Tracklist:
Explosions in the Sky – First Breath After Coma

Ulrich Schnauss – Monday Paracetamol
The Sight Below – Through the Gaps in the Land
Benn Jordan – II
Akira Kosemura – Little Dipper

How to keep track of the internets

Date April 19, 2010 | Published by Kjell-Roger |

If you’re like me you’re reading tons of blogs and news sites and sometimes you just have a heard time keeping track of it all. Now this might not be new to many, but there are different services letting you keep track of blogs and so on. For me Netvibes is the one. I was looking for that one service that made me able to keep track of all the blogs I read and without much hassle. As an example subscribing to an RSS feed or a newsletter ain’t doing it, it’s too much hassle.

With Netvibes I’ve got different sections; one for my art&design blogs, one for my social media and webdev blogs, one for music news and one for the news from different papers that I find interesting. And as time goes I’ll add new blogs and probably new sections too. As you can see above on the picture (click it), Netvibes also has the genius mosaic view. This one is a winner for art&design blogs. I’ll now get to see the first image in each post on the different blogs I read. So it’s easy to sort out, if for an example a blog writes about an artist with a style I don’t particular like I can easily skip it and read the next.

You can also read the posts in it’s entirety at netvibes, which sometimes is madly time-saving when just skipping through. I still mostly open up the post in a new tab tho, since there’s just something about reading a blogpost with the blogs design wrapped around it. If you aren’t already, you should go sign up! It’s perfect for the busy bee’s daily online life.

Thoughts about HDR photography

Date April 9, 2010 | Published by Kjell-Roger |

Some embrace it, some say it looks fake and for non-photographers most don’t even know what it is, but they’ve seen it and probably stopped to look twice. In this post I would like to talk about my thoughts on HDR photography and how I use them in proffesional work.

Outside the Creative Process

Date January 26, 2010 | Published by Kjell-Roger |

The focus of being a creative artist is mainly the creative process and it’s goal; the finished product. There are however alot of factors outside the creative process that affect you. It can be small things like never being satisfied with the thing you create or everyone’s worst nightmare – a full on creative block. As a creative artist you will know; the battle are often fought outside the actual creating. In this post, or rant rather, I will comment and share my thoughts about some of these.

Self-confidence or rather the lack there of. This is a tough one and the one I find hardest to write about, but I’ll try my best. Sometimes you have a great idea, but when you do get creative it doesn’t always turn out the way you wanted it. And this can happen because of lot of things. Maybe there’s a skillset you don’t have but need, maybe others don’t seem to fond of the idea, maybe you actually made it but it doesn’t make people respond the way you’d wanted. We could keep going, couldn’t we?

Top 50 albums of the decade

Date December 29, 2009 | Published by Kjell-Roger |

A decade is soon ending and musically it has been quite the adventure. Ten years is a long time and the music trends have been evolving (at least changed) quite alot. The past decade has been amazing and there are so many great albums to choose from. It has been hard making this list and I’m sure there are vital albums I probably have forgotten, but these are some of the ones that have had the most impact on me. Many of you will pherhaps not agree with the list, but some of you might even find some bands you never have heard. But that’s kind of the beauty of it. Some will agree, some will find albums they had forgotten, some will even discover music they haven’t heard before. I love music, I am a music junkie (oh how cliché), so here you are; my top 50 albums of the decade.
