The 5th and 6th one in the series, titled “Doppelganger: Pragma” and “Eros” is online.

The “Doppelganger” series is one of many artworks that I have started working on since April, and communicates and illustrates the idea of your “shadow self, adapting your existence into an environment that you are not really used to.” The adaptation of your shadow self or your alternate version of you follows along the lines of “Love styles” originally developed by John Lee. He identified six basic love styles—also known as “colors” of love—that people use in their interpersonal relationships with others. Love styles are models of how people love, even if the situation is not something they are regularly exposed to.

NOTE: This advanced tutorial requires most users to know the basic fundamentals of photoshop layer blending modes, filters, and transform tool. This tutorial was written based on CS5 so certain menu options maybe a bit out of place in previous versions. But most tools should be located near the area of where this tutorial explains to go. I am going to go through the process of taking a plain looking girl to a more pop rock star like look. Important note: Within the Photoshop community, there is a large debate that goes on about enhancing existing models distorting the reality of beauty. My thought is that applying make up effects, hair dye, are okay since make up is something that is applied by almost every woman in the world. One thing that I am NOT okay with is the idea of increasing breast sizes, nose sizes, thinning of the body, enlargement of the eyes, etc. I believe that surgical enhancement procedures in the real world and in Photoshop is what distorts the reality of beauty.

1. This tutorial is going to cover a gold text effect that is different from other gold text effects out there. This was hugely inspired by the luxurious look Las Vegas hotels have on their hotel names. The above screenshot is the final result we are going to achieve.
