New wallpaper. Doppelganger: Mania

doppelganger: mania

Hello folks. I apologize again for the lack of updates but have been extremely busy with commercial work. But don’t fret, I have also been busy with a lot of my own work and I am writing today to expose to you the 1st wallpaper of many coming out within this year. This one is titled “Doppelganger: Mania”, and is a work that was done back in April. I have sat this work around wondering if I wanted to release it before the others of a series I am working on, but I decided to give it a go and release it beforehand.

The “Doppelganger” series is one of many artworks that I have started working on since April, and communicates and illustrates the idea of your “shadow self, adapting your existence into an environment that you are not really used to.” The adaptation of your shadow self or your alternate version of you follows along the lines of “Love styles” originally developed by John Lee. He identified six basic love styles—also known as “colors” of love—that people use in their interpersonal relationships with others. Love styles are models of how people love, even if the situation is not something they are regularly exposed to.

You can download the wallpaper and mobile versions HERE.

Apologies for no updates

Date August 9, 2011 | Published by |

I deeply apologize for the lack of updates the past couple of month’s. It’s very saddening to know that my last update was in March and I literally haven’t touched any part of the site since then. But please do understand that it is not my intention to neglect this site and this site is still very important to me.

If you haven’t noticed, my portfolio page has been singled out and separated away from this domain a couple of months ago. This move was done through various reasons but mainly to promote myself as an independent freelance artist under my legal name instead of “Dream Infinity Studios”. But do not think that I have gone through all these months without having some sort of plan or an update schedule of some kind. Here are somethings I have been working on:

I have been working on a series of wallpapers titled “Doppelganger”, which is an artistic approach to the styles of love developed by John Lee and further explored by Clyde Hendrick and Susan Hendrick. (For more details: Click here) The wallpaper will be 6 different wallpapers based on these styles and some further exploration of my artistic approach to communicating science theories with typography and manipulation. Before I forget, the conceptual and imagery development was a collaborative work between myself and a good friend.

Nocturne Shiva v15.4.0

It was September of 2010, when I was coding a very intricate new version of my website. So many things have evolved with my studio and my design business that I can’t even pick up where I left off from. Nocturne Shiva, my next version and re-structure of is in the works and I have so many exciting new changes in store, I am excited to share them. The only problem is that the lack of time for me is what is preventing me from updating my site and I am hoping that I can get this new version up and running by the end of this year.

Either way I am alive and I thank you very much for the patience. Doppelganger series will be released very soon.

Day of Silence

for japan

Dream Infinity Studios will be closed for a day of silence tomorrow, March 18th, starting roughly around 12:00 PDT (-8 GMT). This is to mourn and remember the victims of the devastating earthquake in Japan that was followed by a Tsunami that destroyed a good portion of Northern Japan.

So far, Dream Infinity Studios has only closed their website down for one day, which was the September 11th terrorist attacks. We feel that this recent disaster is in the same level of heart break and devastation as 9/11, and feel it is appropriate for us to close it down to mourn and to remember the victims who have been affected by this devastation.

Thank you for your understanding and please donate if you can by clicking the image on this post. Any small amount of money counts!

Why design should intersect social science

Date March 16, 2011 | Published by |

Recently, a pre-production to a project based on racism has been in the works. The project itself was something I have been wanting to do for quite a long time now, but it has only been recent, where it started to be conceived on paper and in my head.

The reason I mention this is because I have long been wanting to intersect social problems and psychological science with my design work for quite sometime. I been notoriously infamous for executing projects based on my personal experiences and my personal psyche, but I have always thought that it is important to fuel that creative energy to execute something that communicates to the world about human rights and political problems that we face today.

Outside of the recent events in Japan, there has also been a number of issues going on in the United States alone, where a small little problem turned into a big problem via social media. If you have not been in touch with U.S news, there were some big uprising and anger within the state of California, specifically southern California, over a college girl (Alexandra Wallace) who created a video ranting about a specific race and her connection within that over the devastating disaster Japan is currently still recovering from.

Condolences to Japan

Date March 11, 2011 | Published by |

Dream Infinity Studios sends out condolences to anyone who was affected by the devastating earthquake measuring 8.9 magnitude. For someone who has been to Japan many times over, I am sad to see that a beloved and peaceful country be part of such atrocities and disaster.

Some details:

– About 4 million homes in and around Tokyo are without power
– The largest quake recorded was 9.5 magnitude in Chile in 1960
– The 8.9-magnitude quake is 231 miles from Tokyo
– The quake rattles buildings and topples cars off bridges into waters underneath

Happy New Year!

Date January 3, 2011 | Published by |

Happy new year from Dream Infinity Studios. Thank you very much for your support in 2010, which with no argument has been a very good year. I can predict already that the new year is going to be very busy already in terms of client side projects. However, I have a lot of plans stored for the site and releases planned. In 2010, I have accomplished to release execution 4, my 3rd e-book, and 2 wallpapers. Although that may not seem to be a lot to some of you, the magnitude and the scale of these projects were very big. In 2011 I plan to release the next version of this site titled “Shiva” in complete form and plan to release more wallpapers supporting more device formats. Hold on to your hats, this year is going to be a one big creative ride.

Thank you very much again for all the support!

Creating a CV/Resume with Indesign

Date November 2, 2010 | Published by |

indesign Spyre Studios has pretty good article about creating a resume using Adobe Indesign. Spyre Studios is a website that I read frequently and I have to say I was a bit disappointed in some of the suggestions that their article covered. First off it is a good idea to have different versions of your CV/Resume. The two core file formats to have your CV/Resume in is Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) and Adobe PDF. A lot of the times clients and employers are okay with opening PDF files, but I have had cases where they want your CV/Resume in a Word format so it is always a good idea to have one prepared.

Photoshop, Illustrator or Indesign?

adobe creaite suite 5

Today I would like to cover a lot of misconceptions but most importantly the best practical approach on using “three” basic design software created by Adobe. This article/tutorial covers mostly the three practical softwares to use for art and design, which are, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. As more and more features get added from version upgrades and update patches, it is important as a designer to understand which software is the best solution to reach the optimal results in your freelance projects or your personal projects.
