On the third news, a Bulgarian magazine called “AVAart” interviewed me last month for a glimpse of information on who I am as a digital artist. It is always flattering to know that I actually touch international communities rather than just U.S.A alone. I am very thankful for everyone who has supported me over the years and it is honestly you guys that keep me going with this website and my personal projects.
You can check out the interview here. You will have to use google translate to translate what it says or…
Just view the image below for the English version. :)

Surprise surprise. I know I haven’t said anything about Hana coming out, but guess what? It is out today. I know I have been talking about this book for 2 years now but it finally see’s the light of day. The Hana book is available in high and medium quality PDF formats. Please do download it and check it out. I am very proud of the work that went behind this project and I am very thankful for everyone who contributed a lot of time with me (more hours than I told them in the beginning). The most thankful part is that they helped me out in editing, direction, and writing for free. So thank you very very much. You know who you are.

So I opened up the working file for “Hana” last night. The design and concept has significantly matured from my first version of the e-book and I am trying to work on it as much as I can outside of client projects. I decided to see if there was any art work or websites that constituted something along the lines of death and dedication to someone who died. I always want to see if other people out there try to do what I do which lead me to a website called “Days with my Father”.
This is an excellent website that moved me, made me tingle and inspired all at once. I found myself holding back a tear or two while reading and looking at such beautiful composition of text and photography. One of the best and inspirational sites I have found in a while. Check it out here:

The Hana book was promised in Q1 of 2010 I know, but as usual, I want to release nothing but the best so I am going to take a bit more time on it. This is the final chapter of my prolonged communication subject about death and my days with my grandmother who has practically raised me since birth. I appreciate your patience.

Even smaller PDF size. Depereo has been updated with slight fixes that no one noticed. It’s in the download page or the side bar to the left. Thank you.
EDIT: Illustrator tutorial section has been updated with one video of the “Transform Again” and a new written tutorial based on the artboard tool for CS4.

Blog authors, please keep this post up at least a minimum of 3 days. Thank you.
Infinite Synthesis //: Depereo is out now. You can download here, or at the sidebar links to the left (under recent projects) or you can download it in the DOWNLOADS page under E-BOOKS. You can also get it on my myspace page. The file size is not too big as dawn but it contains more content and more pages. It is 94 pages in 48 spreads.

Dawn can still be downloaded here:
Infinite Synthesis //: Dawn (13MB PDF)
Depereo is the sequel to Dawn. It was a project that was planned out in March of 2008 but kind of left the project table into the back burner of my mind for a good while. I decided to go back to it and take a shot at communicating my thoughts and feelings about people who have affected the way I think about romantic relationships. In August of 2008, I decided to go green light on the project and slowly started to work on it from rough idea to final concept. I feel that Depereo is one of my best typographic works I have done. As I stepped away from typography a little bit with my desktop wallpapers, it felt really good to go back to typography related project that was outside of work and client environments. It taught me many different things about myself as a typographer and the capabilities that I have. Typography is not easy. It is probably what makes designing so hard in a lot of projects. I wanted to find a complex yet elegant way of communicating with type. I feel that this project is very powerful in terms of communication.
During the early times of the project, it had a different name and a different idea. The idea was to talk about just one person but I felt that creating a whole book about a person is too much of a stretch. I can only say “screw you” so many times and I just didn’t want it to get boring. I decided to add a couple more inspirational moments in my life with romantic relationships, and started to play with time, coincidences and how certain relationships became very similar in taste.
It took a lot of courage with Depereo. Not because of the ambitious 94 pages of graphical layout, but in terms of communication. I wanted to really push the fine line between being literal about the way I communicate and being abstract. I wanted to be literal to a point that if certain people who were involved with me romantically were to read it, they would clearly know that it is written and designed based on them. I like my fans and visitors to interpret Depereo in a way that relates to them. I feel that it is important to understand the experiences that I have been through, yet want you guys to relate with me with your personal experiences.
In terms of subject, Depereo is set on one subject, which is love. It is a direct sequel with Dawn based on artistic direction, communication method and style. Also it is important to note that the events in Dawn and Depereo happen side to side of each other. There are certain elements in Dawn that is talked about in Depereo and visa versa. The only difference is, Depereo gets into the subject matter of love in a much detailed scale, while Dawn covers love, loss, and death. If Dawn is a female figure, Depereo would be the male figure. Depereo is much aggressive in communication while Dawn is a bit more submissive and unclear.
Another important thing to note is that certain subject matters in Depereo will be talked about in the upcoming execution “Twilight Nocturne”. This was intentional on my part to have my visitors and fans view Depereo and Twilight Nocturne hand in hand. Depereo is a side story within Twilight Nocturne, while Dawn is story that crosses into Twilight Nocturne in a global scale. Depereo has a time line of present to the past, while Dawn has a time line of past to the present. It will be clear that Twilight Nocturne will tell a story in a spread out phase, but will have a strong connection with these two e-books. To put it simply, Infinite Synthesis is a prequel to Twilight Nocturne, with these books as a supportive cause.
As I like to invent a special word for Depereo, it is what I call a revenge design. Revenge doesn’t necessarily mean emotional harm. Nothing can change what has happened and it is not intended to be a case of slander or any type of harm to these people I talk about. It is a revenge in terms of exposure and exposing to the world of these morally wrong incidents that happened in my life.
I remember a while ago, I was threatened by someone legally because I posted a blog about how I can cast revenge using imagery. They immediately thought that it was something related to their photo or a personal belonging. I do not do that. I am not that type of person and I like to be morally correct as a person. However, you cannot sue or threaten me over my idea’s. You cannot violate my freedom of speech. What I say is what I say and I will use this freedom to the fullest degree to tell a story that I see fit.
With that said, thanks SO MUCH to everyone who supported Infinite Synthesis Project from June 2006 to September of 2008. Depereo is the closure project of Infinite Synthesis and I am in a way sad to see that “era” go, but it is time for something new. Now, please download the book and welcome to the power of graphic design communication. Enjoy.
